Ukrainian officials said Russian drone strikes again hit the southern port city of Odesa, injuring at least 11 people, including two children, and damaging homes and critical infrastructure. Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper reported strikes across three districts that damaged residential buildings, vehicles and civilian facilities such as a hotel, warehouses and the funicular. Many windows were shattered and parts of the port sustained damage.
Kiper said municipal and specialised teams were responding to limit the damage, while law enforcement agencies are recording what he described as war crimes committed against the peaceful population of the Odesa region.
In the Zaporizhzhia region, authorities reported further casualties. Regional Governor Ivan Fedorov said Russian attacks killed a 59-year-old man. Separately, managers installed by Russia at the Russia-held Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant said a Ukrainian drone struck the plant’s transport department, killing a driver. Fedorov also said Russian forces carried out 629 strikes across 45 settlements in the region in one day, with at least 50 reports of damage to homes and infrastructure.
Russian officials reported additional Ukrainian drone strikes across the border in the Belgorod area, saying at least one person was killed and four women were injured, with destruction to buildings and vehicles.
These attacks come as diplomatic efforts to end the conflict remain stalled. Former U.S. President Donald Trump told Fox News he had held “good conversations” with both Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy and was “working on the Russia situation,” adding that the personal animosity between the two leaders made negotiations difficult.
Zelenskyy, meanwhile, said he signed security and energy cooperation agreements with Azerbaijan during a visit to Baku and indicated Kyiv and Baku discussed the possibility of holding talks with Russia there in the future.
