Fighting
– Kyiv regional governor Mykola Kalashnyk said Sunday’s Russian strikes on Kyiv left one person dead and 18 wounded.
– In southern Kherson, Governor Oleksandr Prokudin reported at least two people killed and seven wounded in renewed Russian strikes.
– Donetsk Governor Vadym Filashkin said Russian attacks on Saturday killed at least two people and injured five.
– Russia’s Belgorod regional operational headquarters said a Ukrainian drone strike killed two men in that region.
– Russia’s FSB told state media that Russian forces downed 309 drones over the Donbas in the past week using the “Donbas Dome” electronic warfare system, TASS reported.
Peace talks
– US and Ukrainian officials described talks in Florida about a possible deal to end the war as productive.
– US Senator Marco Rubio said negotiations remain difficult but expressed cautious optimism about progress.
– Rubio said talks would continue later in the week when US envoy Steve Witkoff travels to Moscow, and stressed that any agreement must include Russia.
– Ukraine’s chief negotiator, National Security Council secretary Rustem Umerov, thanked the US for its support: “US is hearing us, US is supporting us, US is walking beside us.”
– First Deputy Foreign Minister Sergiy Kyslytsya called the Florida meetings “a good start” and praised Rubio’s role.
