It’s been only a few days since NASA launched the four-person Artemis II crew — commander Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen — on a planned 10-day round trip around the Moon aboard the Orion spacecraft. The astronauts have already shared striking images from the mission. Several photos were taken from inside Orion. Shortly after the translunar injection burn on April 2, 2026, Wiseman photographed Earth nearly occulting the Sun; that shot reveals zodiacal light (sunlight scattering off dust) and two auroral bands visible at opposite edges of the planet. He also captured the terminator line between day and night and other dramatic backlit views through an Orion window. The crew has released behind-the-scenes cabin pictures as well, including a downlink event where all four answered questions. NASA says the astronauts are working with agency scientists to identify additional targets and framing to capture as they approach and orbit the Moon. Together the images mix candid crew moments with breathtaking, deep-space perspectives of Earth. Image credits: Reid Wiseman/NASA via Getty Images; NASA
