A United Airlines Boeing 777-200ER returned safely to Dulles International Airport in Virginia on Saturday after an engine failure shortly after takeoff, the Federal Aviation Administration said. The flight, bound for Tokyo, was carrying 275 passengers and 15 crew members. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy posted on X that a piece of the engine cowling separated and caught fire, and debris sparked a small brush fire on the ground. No injuries have been reported, Duffy said. The FAA said it will investigate the incident.
