About Us
Who we are, what we cover and how we decide what is worth your time.
APLive News is an independent news publication covering politics, world affairs, business, health, science, technology, sport and culture. We publish for readers who want to understand what happened and why it matters, without wading through noise to find it.
What we cover
Our reporting is organised into sections that reflect how people actually read the news: national politics and the courts, international affairs and conflict, the economy and the companies that shape it, health policy and public health, the science of a changing climate, the technology industry and its consequences, and the sport and culture that make up the rest of life.
We are not a wire service and we do not try to cover everything. We would rather publish fewer stories that explain something than a running tally of everything that moved.
How we work
Every story we publish carries a byline and a publication date. Where a story develops after publication, we update it and say what changed. Where we get something wrong, we correct it in public rather than quietly editing the page — our approach is set out in full in our Corrections Policy.
Our editorial judgements are made by our newsroom alone. Commercial considerations play no part in what we choose to cover or in the conclusions our reporting reaches. The standards we hold ourselves to are described in our Editorial Standards.
Independence
We are independently operated and editorially independent. No political party, campaign, government body or commercial sponsor has any influence over our coverage, and none is given advance sight of our stories.
